(WASHINGTON DC) March 5, 2003…SIA News has obtained a secret document showing the Saudi government closed off Araar airport to the public Wednesday because it is been taken over by American forces in their way to attack Iraq.
The document was issued Tuesday by the director of Al-Jouf airport Yousef Hamaad Al-Balawi to inform the airport police chief the Araar airport is closing effective Wednesday March 4. All civilian flights are to be diverted to Al-Jouf airport, 150 kilometers south, the document showed.
Yesterday a witness traveling though Araar airport told SIA News reporter in Riyadh he saw hundreds of American troops in control of the airport, located 15 kilometers from the Iraqi borders.
The witness said he saw dozens of American soldiers and a lot of equipments at the airport, “the Americans are controlling the airport,” he said.
The witness said the airport was still open for public usage Monday despite the presence of American troops.
Earlier this week SIA received unconfirmed reports of giant Galaxy airplanes landing at Araar airport carrying heavy equipments, apparently for use in the upcoming war.
The opposition group the Movement if Islamic Reforms in Arabia based in London said Monday thousands of American troops landed at Tabouk airbase (north) in the past week.
Although the government publicly vowed not to take part in any war against Iraq, it seems it’s secretly allowing American troops to use several military bases |
